The architectural practice kalm architecture was founded in 2007 by partners Lucy Miller and Kevin Adams. Based in the East Lothian and greater Edinburgh regions, the two architects both have over twelve years of experience gained working on projects for a diverse clientele in the residential and commercial sectors and in arts and culture.
Kalm architecture has been recognised for their work as shortlist contenders for the Saltire Society Housing Design Award for Best Private House in 2012, celebrating excellence in housing design in Scotland, as well as the Edinburgh Architectural Association’s Building of the Year award. Kevin Adams complements his architectural practice by sharing his passion for architecture as a part-time tutor and visiting critic at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
The architecture studio takes on projects of all types, from the renovation and extension of private houses to steading conversions to create commercial office premises in rural buildings. The architects at kalm architecture offer full design and construction management services, assisting you throughout each phase of your project from its conception up to the work’s completion.
Kevin Adams and Lucy Miller are experienced in renovation and extension work on properties such as a cottage located on a farm in East Lothian, which was featured in Homes & Interiors Scotland and Grand Designs Magazine, as well as houses and villas in Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders. The architects are particularly mindful of buildings’ orientation and relationship to their surroundings, creating architectural solutions with bespoke detailing that offer a connection to the landscape.
