Oïkos atelier d'architecture is available for new projects

Renaud Pithion and Benoit Seraphin are the founders of the architecture studio OÏKOS based in Geneva. The studio stands out for its philosophy, centred around two key concepts: developing environmentally-responsible architecture, and preserving and enhancing architectural heritage. 

The studio designs architecture with a conscious approach focused on sustainability, for example by incorporating the use of bio-sourced materials into their eco-friendly building methodology, thereby developing energy-efficient and health-conscious buildings. In addition, OÏKOS promotes the recovery and re-use of materials and architectural elements as part of their approach to developing principles of green building and even participative construction. They work to promote social engagement in the act of habitation, through taking part in cooperative and participatory housing projects. 

The studio’s architectonic skill is expressed through the nature of materials used such as wood, earth and straw, as well as through the diversity of their projects. OÏKOS already works in close collaboration with specialised contractors to carry out this type of work. The architects are surrounded with a network of specialists with whom they work together to develop the way they design buildings and bring them to life.

The aspect of architectural heritage is approached with care, with commitment to conservation and the desire to adapt to the existing character. Numerous protected conservation areas surround the Canton of Geneva, which are starting to be developed in complement to the urban densification of Geneva’s centre. These areas offer the possibility to build a residential development in the countryside, surrounded by traditional rural homes and farm buildings. The studio works to preserve this valuable cultural heritage as much as possible, notably through the use of bio-sourced materials, adapting implementation methods to the architecture and its inhabitants.
